IMPORTANT FINAL NOTES BEFORE DEPARTURE

1)      Find buddies for travel to Benevento (most of you have this covered). Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program.

2)      You might want to reset your Eraider password before you leave. Once you reset it, you will not need to change it for another 6 months.

3)      On the train to Benevento, you will need the QR code you received in your email while purchasing the train ticket. You should take a photo of it so that it is handy even if you do not have internet coverage inside the train.

4)      Dress code for factory visits

a.       No sandals, flip-flops (pack one pair of shoes with closed toes).

b.       No skirts or shorts.

c.       Jeans and t-shirts ok.

5)      Do not pack clothes with political messages and obvious US signs. Remember that safety is our first priority!

6)      REMEMBER that the train stops for at most 2 minutes at Benevento. Get to the door when the PA announces that Benevento is the next stop.

7)      On-site meeting on May 14 in Benevento at 6 pm in the big square called Piazza Roma.

a.       Attendance will be taken.

8)      REMEMBER to notify your bank and credit card institutions of your travel plans.

9)      Phones

a.       Sim cards can be purchased in Italy with US passport – phone must be unlocked.

b.       You can also get a travel plan with your provider.

10)   Pack meds (cold-flu, allergies etc)

a.       They can be expensive in Italy

b.       Have them clearly marked in zip-lock bags while going through airport security.

c.       Have a Italian language card with your allergy information

11)   Bring your laptop! I will post course notes on blackboard and homework will be assigned on webwork.

12)   Bring Type C or Type L adapters for Italian electric sockets. If you are going to travel to other European countries besides Italy, you should buy adapters suited for those countries as well.

13)   DO NOT pack towels or bed sheets. These will be provided for you. DO NOT pack US electric hair-dryers etc.

14)   Note down your passport information. Keep photos of your passport pages on your phone or as a hardcopy.

The number 112 can be dialed to reach emergency services - medical, fire and police - from anywhere in Europe. The operator connects the caller with the required emergency service. This Pan-European emergency number 112 can be called from any telephone (landline, pay phone or mobile cellular phone). Calls are free. It can be used for any life-threatening situation, including:
